All About Dogs

I have no intention of making my blog all about dogs. I mean, I could, there’s plenty of material. In fact, if I wanted to solely focus on the Life of Dogs, on Dogs Being Dogs, I could probably gain quite a following. There are a lot of dog lovers in the world. Maybe I could even make some coin.

But that’s probably not only true about dogs, it’s probably true about a lot of things. If I made my blog exclusively anti-Trump (“Idiot Clown Presidents Being Idiot Clown Presidents”) I would probably blow up with followers by dissecting the stupid things daily that the stupid commander-in-chief does daily. Those wise enough to already have seen through the deceptions of the Lord of Lies would greatly enjoy it, and those looking to pierce through to the truth could find me for that reason. It would also be a great place for trolls to come and play.

That isn’t what I want to do, though.

One time, at a family gathering, a niece of mine told me “Uncle Tommy, your Facebook is ALL about dogs and beer and superheroes and politics and selfies and …” and I stopped her right there. It’s true, I told her, my Facebook is all about a bunch of different things, the same as I. At any given time I am thinking a lot about dogs and beer and superheroes and politics and love and family and friendship and science and math and money and football. To name a few. I think a lot, and I am always thinking about that one thing called everything.

So I don’t want to make my blog all about dogs, or any specific topic. I want to make it about Tom, and what is on his mind at any given time.

That being said, all I have going on right now is all about dogs. Specifically, all about Marvel who, like I said, steals all my blog time. I’ll be back, but in the meantime…

Here’s more pictures of dogs. 😏

  1. Marvel is a marvel! I think that refusing to devote your blog to a single theme is actually a better way to increase and/or maintain readership. When mine was more along those lines, I amassed hundreds of followers, something that was both flattering and confusing at the same time. Now I have 19 followers and I’m even a little confused about that. Of course, if you want to ensure that your reader count stays below 20 people, just devote your page to the analysis of a shitty Canadian teen soap opera. Like magic, all those pesky readers will disappear!

    1. Haha! To be frank, Paul, one of my big regrets in this lost time is that I have been unable to follow your Canadian teen soap opera reviews (yet). Now there’s a sentence I never saw coming. 😉

When I first started blogging, long before anyone but my family and very close friends knew anything about it, I researched “how to get blog followers” or some such. The number one thing I kept running into was something like “focus on a specific niche.” I brainstormed that and said “nahhhh…”. I just wanted to free flow and come what may. It turns out that the best way to get readers, I’ve found out, is go get ’em. Telling people to read my blog gets people to read my blog, and reading other people’s blogs all but ensure they’ll read yours.

These days, though, I’m more interested in just throwing words out in the sphere and having fun with folks. If this became a job, in other words, I’d hate it. 👍

Thanks for giving Marvel (and Moxe and Ludo) just due. Right now, no matter what else is going on, it’s all about them!

      1. Awesome! If you happen to remember a god-awful early 90s Canadian teen soap called “Fifteen” (featuring a 12 year old Ryan Reynolds), you’ll love it. Otherwise, it doesn’t seem to have much appeal for those who don’t remember, and most people don’t.

      2. Hmm, good question. This page used to be called Entropy Storm, and at that time, there was an about page (although what I wrote there would be out of place considering the new content). It seems to have disappeared in my zeal to change the whole look of the page. Thanks for pointing that out!

  2. Those photos are adorable! I’m not one to read blogs written by pets, I don’t particularly like cats, but dogs are just big sweet children to me and I miss the ones who were with me for their short lives. However, I can’t have pets now and I like the occasional visit from a relative’s dog. I write about a lot of ghings, but always amused by your posts, Tom, so keep doing whatever you like.

    1. There’s nothing wrong with you being you. After all no one can tell your story like you can.
And I’m sure you know you’ll never regret the time you’ve spent documenting Marvel’s puppyhood, and also all the other things on your mind. I think you and aren’t the only ones who know that if your blog was all about one thing it would be kinda boring.

  3. How could you NOT be all about the dogs right now with that handsome little fella around? I could imagine that he’s very distracting–we’ve had Titus for years and I still find myself very involved with him, so could you just see ME with a puppy? Great pic of you too:-)

    1. Aw, thanks for that! 😂

Honestly, I love the little tyke and do not regret him for a second, but there are some mornings when I REALLY wish he’d go back to bed with Mrs C with the others so I can get some Tom time! 😁
