Shhhhh

Miss me?

I know, I know, I’ve been quiet lately. Really, it’s not intentional and it’s not even burnout. It’s just … life. Since the last time we spoke I’ve been so busy repricing the floor at the store, getting things organized around the house, having a good time when time permits, and – of course – watching the Rams that my hours just kind of get eaten up. I’ll do better.

Those Rams are on Saturday night, by the way, at 5:15, hosting the deepest playoff game they’ve been in since the early aughts. They play the Cowboys and as I just said on Facebook, paraphrasing a tweet from Vincent Bonsignore:

Despite meeting 8 times in the playoffs from 1973 to 1985, the Rams and Cowboys haven’t met in the postseason since the 1985 season. They are tied historically at 4-4 in the playoffs. This Saturday, all of that ends. Dallas. In LA. For everything. Good luck Cowboy fans! #TwoMoreDays

Don’t worry, I haven’t been very active over there, either. I’ve been socially unavailable in a hundred different ways in 2019. I doubt that’s a trend; I’m not very good at reclusion.

So this is really just the briefest of salutations before I head back into the laundry room and then over for a haircut and then a grocery trip before returning to my organizational addiction. I’ll be supremely active again soon, I think. Probably before the government is. Maybe.

In the meantime, you could enjoy my archives if I hadn’t lost them all in December. So, barring that go visit Jen. She just started a blog of her own about her battle with food and the reality of emotional eating. She’s a close, personal friend of mine, one of those folks who dresses up all St Patrick-y and Santa-like and gets drunk in the snow with me. She’s smart, talented, and uber-cool. You’ll like her lots.

Okay, I gotta mosey. Please take good care of yourselves and never stop being you. I’ll never stop being Tom.

That one, I promise. 😁

    1. Nothing bad! All too good right now; I need some serious hindrance to get my writing in gear. 😉

Nah, I’ll take this and come back and write something positive. I ran across the word “positive affective presence” in an article yesterday and wrote it down with two underlines, as a matter of fact. And I’m almost done with my latest reading. And I have to write SOMETHING if the Rams advance. Any of that sound good?

      Thanks for being there!

  1. It sounds like you’re busier than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest. Also I hope sometime you can teach me to mosey. I’ve never moseyed before. I’ve walked, I’ve ambled. I even sashayed once, but that was in front of a draft board. Yes, some of my best material is stolen, and here’s a little more, but this time I’ll provide an attribution: as Billie Jean King said, pressure is a privilege. Of course Billie Jean King also said, “These little buggers are the piranhas of the insect world. The only thing they like better than wood is human flesh.” Or maybe that was Gordon Liddy. I always get them mixed up.

    1. Hey man, I’ll trade you two moseys for one sashay; I’ve always wanted to try it but never had the nerve. And the only draft board I’ve ever faced is the one where I took Todd Gurley 4th overall and ended up in 3rd place.

Thanks for understanding my dilemma. I’ll write way too much again real soon (maybe tomorrow)!

      1. I’m glad you’re loving organizing the new home. I’m still right there with ya. I’m actually wanting to take the garage up a notch 😂

      2. Great plan! It’s amazing how you can be in a place for a couple of years and everything is in a place that’s “good enough.” Now that I own the place it’s like “good enough” ain’t, and I gotta find the best resting place for EVERYTHING!

And everything takes longer than it should. 😂

    1. I may be moseying off but I’ll be dashing back! Seriously, too much fun to stay away for long. I promise I’ll be back talking about nothing in no time. Go ahead, pick a topic. I guarantee I’ll write about it (and stray from it by paragraph three 😏).

  2. Uh, yeah I missed you! But I totally understand. Work for me is also super-busy right now, AND I’m trying to finalize my new manuscript for my publisher, and it’s been really hard to keep up with everything else. We do the best we can, right? Hope to hear from you soon, but if not, I know where you “live”!

      1. Obviously I failed this week (again). 😂

See, work used to be the place I could catch up on my blog reading, but my work dynamic has changed. So here I am, 4 days later, responding to something 4 days ago about catching up in 2 days.

Did any of that make sense?
